Each component has been carefully considered, balancing aesthetic clarity with technical precision. Much of the technicality remains unseen, yet it is exactly these hidden details that make the final result possible.Passage looks like one seamless object, but it actually contains a surprising number of components. Achieving no visible seams and a streamlined look is extra challenging for surface-mounted fixtures since everything is exposed.

Optical possibilities

Passage is built on a custom developed optical platform, offering a range of colour temperatures, multiple beam angles, high lumen outputs and support for various dimming protocols, including warm dim. This flexibility allows you to set the right ambience, every time.

A precise passage

The hinge is the defining element that creates the composition of the design. It may look simple, but it is technically complex. At just 5 mm thick, it holds the fixture together, allows it to tilt and guides the internal wiring. Milled from an extruded block, the hinge is a pure piece of precision engineering.

The name Passage refers to this specific element as well: a literal passage within the fixture, guiding movement and connection, while symbolising transition.

Longevity in material, design and engineering

Passage is designed and engineered for transition. Durability and replaceability guided every step of the process, with extensive testing including pull, rotation and temperature tests to ensure minimal wear over time of all technical components. One clear example of designing for transition is that the lens can be replaced in the field to change to a different beam angle simply by unscrewing the front ring, without any tools required.

While no screws are visible on the outside, they play an important role inside. Mechanical solutions are always favoured over glue, allowing components to be repaired or replaced when needed. This approach to the construction also makes it easier to separate materials at the end of a product’s life, so all parts can be dismantled and recycled responsibly.

Aluminium Tumbled

Brutalism at its finest

A tumbled surface, created by vibrating tumble stones against the aluminium, gives the material its characteristic matt and textured appearance. Protected with a subtle varnish layer, this contemporary finish adds depth and tactility to the design while preserving its raw character.

Shine and show

A mirror-like surface with subtle brushed lines, created through sanding the raw aluminium. Finished with a glossy protective varnish, the surface reflects both light and its surroundings with a quiet brilliance.
