Designer Jeffrey Huyghe’s challenge was to design an architectural pendant with a decorative touch. His inspiration came from the idea that pendant lighting can mean both, down and up light. This very special design twist is what makes Placebo unique and extremely playful. And as modularity is in Jeffrey’s DNA, his designs often flow into each other and can easily be combined. For example, the finish and the colours of Thimble, the glass of Shellby’s sphere, are both used for Placebo, making these families a perfect match for an interior.
I wanted to use the same shape both up and down. Having something like the almost primal form of a lamp hanging upside down looks very surprising in a way. The interaction between the different types creates a sense of rhythm. Jeffrey Huyghe, Product Designer
